Himanchal Higher Secondary School is a community school that combines a government-supported middle school and a community supported higher secondary school. The government provides financial support to pay for the teachers up to middle school level (grade 1 through 7). The community has to find resources to maintain and run the higher secondary school (grade 8 through 12).
Our volunteer program encourages individuals from around the world to travel to Nepal to learn about its people, culture and environment. We aim to recruit volunteers who can share their skills in Nangi and neighboring villages with members of the local community in a way that helps them achieve their own goals, without creating unhealthy dependencies or undermining the values of the local culture.
Sustainability is key in today's developing world. We need contributions to survive, grow and sustain. We have implemented many income-producing projects locally as well. We look for contribution in different forms – financial, materials, and volunteers.
